VICA's internships are guaranteed to provide interns with real-world communications and policy experience and they leave with a portfolio of relevant work. Our interns attend interesting programs featuring top opinion leaders and learn public policy issues and advocacy skills from some of the area’s public policy experts and insiders.
Internships at VICA are unpaid, but college course credit is available.
Government affairs interns report to the Government Affairs Mangers and are expected to help with a range of daily needs at VICA’s Van Nuys office and off-site events. Duties include, but are not limited to, assist with drafting policy briefs and letters to lawmakers; tracking pertinent federal, state and local legislation; engaging in events and conferences; and participating in policy committee preparation and event planning.
The ideal candidates are pursuing an associate's, undergraduate or graduate degree in the political science, business, public policy or a related field; are familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); and are excellent communicators. Research and writing is required.

Communications interns report to the Communications Manager and are expected to help with a range of daily needs at VICA’s Van Nuys office and off-site events. Duties include, but are not limited to, providing support for events and conferences, answering phones, assisting with drafting press releases and marketing materials, helping manage VICA’s media clippings, updating the VICA website and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field. The candidate should also have an interest in government and public policy. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Experience with design programs (Photoshop and InDesign) are a significant plus.

Administrative interns report to the Executive Assistant and assists with a variety of tasks: Primarily, keeping the membership database current, which includes following up on returned mail and email, updating member information as changes come in, and utilizing Chambermaster functions to increase member visibility. Other responsibilities may include calling members to invite them to attend committee meetings and events, sending out VICA mailers, and assisting other VICA staff members as needed.
