State Officeholders Dinner (February)
VICA provides a rare opportunity for Valley business leaders to connect with state lawmakers and discuss important public policy issues during its annual State Officeholders Dinner. The event provides a fast-paced platform for attendees to pose questions addressed to specific officeholders about California's top legislative issues.
Congressional Luncheon (April)
This is a unique and fun opportunity to directly engage elected officials from Washington who represent the San Fernando Valley.
San Fernando Valley Business Hall of Fame (June)
VICA continues its newest tradition by inducting five of the Valley’s remarkable business and community leaders into the San Fernando Valley Business Hall of Fame. It was created by VICA in 2008 to recognize significant contributions to the Valley community. Inductees include individuals, businesses and other community organizations that have been responsible for the continued success, economic vitality and culture of the San Fernando Valley.
Local Officeholders Luncheon (August)
Local officeholders representing L.A. County, the City of Los Angeles and other Valley cities join VICA and its members to discuss the pertinent issues facing businesses during the annual Local Officeholders Luncheon. Attendees have the opportunity to formally ask questions on a wide range of topics.
Business Forecast Conference (October)
VICA takes pride in holding one of the region’s best public policy conferences. High-ranking officeholders and public officials gather to discuss timely business issues with economists, academics, business leaders and attendees in dialogue-generating sessions. The day includes an economic forecast breakfast, breakout panels and a keynote luncheon that has featured Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and Dermalogica Founder and Owner Jan Wurwand.
Annual Meeting (December)
VICA concludes every successful year with a celebratory lunch program for its members. Ultimately, the day is reserved for some of the Valley’s outstanding volunteers and business leaders and public officials as VICA honors them with the Robert E. Gibson Corporate Award for Excellence, the Harmon Ballin Community Service Award and the President’s Award. Luncheon speakers have included Former EBay CEO and GOP Gubernatorial Nominee Meg Whitman and California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner.
Leaders Forum
In 2009, VICA launched a new series of events—Leaders Forum. Held off-site, the event gives attendees the opportunity to dialogue with political leaders in an intimate setting. Featured guests discuss the issues that are of importance to the business community and take time to answer members’ questions. In the past, VICA has welcomed U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and GOP Senate candidate Carly Fiorina.
Newsmaker Connection
VICA’s Newsmaker Connections gives members the unique opportunity to sit down and discuss relevant public policy issues with elected officials. This event offers attendees the freedom to ask questions and receive immediate responses from community leaders about the issues most important to businesses. Past speakers include Councilmembers Jan Perry and Tony Cardenas, and Inspector General Laura Chick. The events have also featured candidate debates for L.A.’s Second Council District and the 43rd Assembly District races.
After Dark
VICA After Dark is a regular evening reception designed to give VICA members and guests the opportunity to hear updates about policies and legislation impacting the business community from a featured opinion leader. Attendees enjoy a hosted beer and wine bar along with appetizers as they meet and interact with other prominent business leaders from the community. Past headliners include City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, Councilmember Paul Krekorian and L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky.
